The definition of the word 'trouser' has always been, to my understanding, a garment designed to cover the legs and lower regions. In order to prevent embarrassment, should a standard pair of trousers fail us, there was a brilliant item invented known as the belt. It was designed as a failsafe should our trousers let us down, because wherever you're from, bums are not attractive and no one wants to see them. So why some people insist on showing off their underwear or butt cracks completely baffles me.
Baggy trousers are not even vaguely handsome, surely people must understand this. They achieve nothing but looking foolish and lazy, for they have absolutely no sexual appeal whatsoever. Unless being a slob is suddenly handsome- it wasn't last time I checked. I cannot see how or why anyone would ever find this fashion attractive. It's indecent and only reinforces the stereotype that young people are sluggish and rude. The whole point of underwear is that it stays UNDER one's clothes. Having it on display is usually a sign that your clothes are too small - not a problem anyone should wish to accentuate, let alone make a fashion from.
Men have tormented us with previous bad fashions. We've witnessed men in tights, the socks and sandals combo, but believe me when I say that we've never seen a mistake on this level before. True, there was a time when men wore stockings, but at least they wore then with DIGNITY, a quality that seems to be sadly lacking when alarmingly sagging jeans showing your boxers are considered the norm.
Perhaps guys do it as a statement of individuality, flying in the face of conformity, but I'm afraid this is a poorly thought out master plan, given that individuality requires something INDIVIDUAL to be present. The sagging trouser is moving throughout Britain like the plague, a ridiculous style that is more eyesore than eye candy. Being an individual is NOT about following what everyone else is doing, But being brave enough to hold onto your values when everyone else dresses like an idiot.
I blame the underpants industry. The introduction of boxers with writing on the waistband is where this inability to get dressed seems to have come from. Of all the items in the known universe, why, WHY, did we need those monstrosities? It's like an immature joke that six-year-olds came up with in the sandpit. This is not style -this is absurdity to the first degree.
It's also just offensive. The days when I could sit, quite innocently, nibbling a sandwich without being corrupted by the sight of pink boxers are sadly over. Please, baggy trouser-wearers pull yourselves together and pull your legwear up. You're not individual and I'm about to lose my lunch.
